Want to give 220 a try? The QRA is testing running the weekly net on the Stoneham 223.800 repeater. No tone needed to access the repeater. We will be meeting every Tuesday night at 7:30 PM on 220 throughout the month of April. If it works well, this will be a permanent change. Brian Gudzevich, net control coordinator for the QRA would welcome everyone’s thoughts on this change.
The town of Reading has informed us that the Reading Senior Center is still closed and unavailable for our scheduled April meeting. I’ll keep everyone up to date as soon as I get any information about the center being open.

The next membership meeting is on January 16th, 2020 at 7:00 PM at the Pleasant Street Center, 49 Pleasant Street, Reading, MA. All are welcome to attend.
The Author of the QRA Website (that would be me), Brian Gudzevich, WO1VES, will be doing a talk on Digital Radio Hotspots. It will be an introduction to how they work, what they do, how to use them. It will also introduce new users to the world of digital voice.
The meeting starts at 7:00 PM at the Reading Senior Center, 49 Pleasant Street, Reading, MA.
The next QRA meeting will be held on March 21st 2019 at the Reading Senior Center, 49 Pleasant Street, Reading, MA. This month’s speaker will be Harry Chase, WA1VVH. He will be talking about his memories of HCJB, a shortwave station in Ecuador. He made several trips there as a volunteer to set up broadcasting equipment, help with technical issues, and eventually help decommission the stations.
He will also be presenting an awesome slideshow, that will include photos of transmitters, antennas, and other broadcast equipment. Some of these transmitters could reach 500 KW. He will also have some images from around Ecuador that showcase the landscape and the culture.
This will be a great presentation and all are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The next QRA Membership meeting will be held on Thursday, February 21st at 7:00 PM at the Reading Senior Center, 49 Pleasant Street, Reading, MA. All are welcome! We hope to see everyone there.
The December, 2018 membership meeting will be a combination of our annual Christmas and 70th anniversary parties. We will have pizza and cold drinks. There is a $10.00 donation per person to help cover the cost of the festivities. All family and friends of the QRA are welcome! Of course we will be, as usual, holding a Yankee Swap. If you want to participate, please bring a wrapped gift with a price not to exceed $10.00. We hope to see everyone there!
